A Parexel Financial Analyst tracks the money for clinical trials. You will help projectmanagers control budgets, check monthly revenue, and manage payments to doctors.This role blends basic math, corporatebudgeting, and team communication to ensuredrug trials stay profitable.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create accurate, transparent, andtimely financial analysis to supportproject leadership in project decisionmaking process; clearly articulatefinancial implications of businessdecisions/ choices, and provideretrospective analysis as well as driveforward looking actions on simplerprojects / contract typeso For less complex projects facilitate themonthly revenue cycle and supportproject analysis requirements,including a review of units, forecast,unit prices, and revenue recognition.
- Ensure appropriate supportingdocumentation is available and thatthe forecast is aligned with operationalplans. Complete all required varianceanalyses for the set of projects, withinsight. Identify risks in the projectforecast and opportunities to improverevenue outlook.
- Understand alternative financescenarios within a project with adegree of technical knowledge andbusiness acumen.Provide updates on financial status forassigned projects and createinformation in response to any clientfinancial reporting needs for assignedprojects in the area of projectreporting, forecasting, or transactionaldetails for the projects within theportfolio.
- For less complex projects, actively monitor the balance sheet positions ofprojects within the portfolio. Initiateaction as needed with project teams tokeep balances current, improving DSO and cash flow.
- Put steps in place with project teams toensure pass-thrus are managed withinproject budgets, including appropriateto trigger change in scope as needed.
- Maintain, produce and communicatearelevant and impactful set of projectfinancial metrics designed to supportevaluation of financial performanceconsistent with the project and contract types being managed. Inpartnership with PLs and projectteams, prepare and conduct a monthly project review of performance,operational status, and outlook. Thereview will focus on revenue forecast,labor and margin, billing status,assumptions, special contract items.The review should capture potential improvement opportunities andactions will be taken.
- Play a key role in initiating, building,and reviewing change in scope activityon assigned projects. Work with theproject teams on an appropriatebudget for the scope of work.Maintain/update simpler projectbudgets within relevant tools frompost-award onwards including analysisand understanding on any subsequentchanges in scopeo Review labor assumptions on assignedprojects, both volume and mix.
- Builddiscipline in our project teams incharging time accurately. Understandsproject resource planning support,monitor resource levels on ongoingprojects and identify and communicateproject/portfolio margin implications.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- BA in Finance or Accounting, or relevantexperience preferredRelevant and progressive Finance roleswith strong analytical and partnering trackrecord.
- Prioritizes, sets expectations and works inan efficient and disciplined manner.Thrives in a complex, fast-paced, matrixenvironmentStrong experience with Excel andPowerPoint applications; experience withfinancial performance systems (e.g.,Hyperion)
- Ability to manage multiple and variedtasks with enthusiasm and prioritizeworkload with attention to detail
- Interpersonal skills
- Strong command of the English language,both written and verbal
