Verizon Global Infrastructure (VGI) is seekinga highly motivated Cybersecurity Engineer tolead the charge in redefining their network defense posture. This is a high-impact rolewithin the GTS ecosystem, focused on maturing their security standards through theintegration of Next-Generation Firewalls(NGFW) and the strategic transition toward a Zero Trust framework. This role will be alignedto their perimeter security team and wilIsupport the security transformation of theirNet2Net VPN architecture and Cisco NGEW ecosystem (ASA/Firepower). Your responsibilities will include moving beyondsimple connectivity by engineering hardened, policy-driven infrastructure that enforces granular access control acrosscorporate offices, data centers, and third-party partner networks.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supporting daily operations, includinginternal/external stakeholder engagementand dotted-line leadership.
- Maintaining enterprise-level security policies and rulesets using CiscoFirepower Management Center (FMC) andAdaptive Security Device Manager(ASDM).
- Supporting the configuration, anddeployment of secure and scalable Site-to-Site |Psec VPNs on Cisco ASA and CiscoFirepower Threat Defense (FTD)platforms Monitoring traffic and security events toidentify infrastructure gaps andcollaborate with Cyber stakeholders onrisk mitigation; this will require knowledgein packet captures.
- Performing regular maintenance, patching,and software upgrades for all firewall andVPN hardware and software to mitigatevulnerabilities and ensure optimal performanc.
- Partnering with internal stakeholders andvendors to integrate new business requirements into the firewall and VPNecosystem.
- Driving short-term security goals throughcomprehensive documentation, root-cause analysis, and peer mentorship.
- Promoting an environment ofcollaboration and individual accountabilitywhen it comes to problem-solving,decision-making, and processimprovements.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- Bachelor’s degree or one or more years ofrelevant experience required,demonstrated through work experienceand/or military experience.
- One or more years of experience infirewalls and VPN functionality: Palo Alto,CISCO ASA, Checkpoint, Juniper (SRX,ISG, NetScreen, etc.), Fortinet.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
- Experience with using Checkpoint smart console and Palo Alto Panorama toconfigure and push firewall policies.Strong, demonstrable experience with theCisco Firepower (FTD) platform andFirepower Management Center (FMC),including policy configuration, devicemanagement, and troubleshooting.• In-depth understanding of TCP/IP, routingprotocols (BGP, OSPF), and networksecurity principles.
- Experience with Tufin FPM for maintainingFirewall rules and policies.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complexnetwork and security issues methodicallyand effectively.Experience with data analytical tools suchas Splunk, Elasticsearch, or HadoopComprehensive understanding ofcybersecurity, network defense, andinvestigative frameworks (such as NIST800-53 and CSF 2.0, ISO 27000 series.
