EY is seeking a Staff / Junior Al SecurityEngineer to join the Frontier Al and LayeredDefense practice. This role is designed for anearly-career professional who will support thesecure design, implementation, testing, andmonitoring of Al-enabled systems, includingLLM applications, RAG pipelines, andemerging agentic Al workflows.
Recruitment & StaffingThe position will focus on applying layered defense principles across the Al lifecycle,including secure data access, prompt andcontext controls, model interactionsafeguards, tool-use boundaries, responsequality checks, monitoring, and appropriateescalation paths. The candidate will contributeto practical implementation activities whilelearning how frontier Al risks such asunintended information exposure, unreliableresponses, unsafe tool invOcation, nmisusepatterns, and data leakage are addressed inenterprise environments.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support implementation of layered defense controls for LLM, RAG, andagentic Al use cases, including inputhandling, context isolation, tool-usebou daries, response checks, accesscontrols, and monitoring.
- Assist in building and testing AIapplications using frameworks such asLangChain, Lang Graph, Llamalndex,AutoGen, OpenAl-compatible APls, andrelated orchestration tools.
- Configure and validate basic Al applicationsafeguards, including prompt handling,response constraints, sensitive datahandling checks, and escalation paths foruncertain or high-impact outputs.
- Support secure RAG implementation byhelping validate data ingestion, retrievalboundaries, embedding and vector storeaccess, source attribution, and securehandling of structured and unstructured enterprise data.
- Execute predefined misuse-resistance andscenario validation checks, includingattempts to bypass instructions, exposehidden context, trigger unintendedactions, or produce unsafe or unreliableoutputs.
- Review Al system logs, traces, prompts,outputs, tool calls, and telemetry toidentify anomalies, unexpected behavior,and potential security issues forescalation.
- Support secure integration of Al systemswith enterprise APIls, identity platforms,cloud services, workflow tools, andknowledge repositories under seniorguidance.
- Assist in documenting validation results,control observations, implementationnotes, remediation actions, and reusabledelivery patterns.
- Contribute to automation scripts, testharnesses, and repeatable playbooks for AIapplication validation and continuousmonitoring.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- O-3 years of experience in softwaredevelopment, cybersecurity, Al/ML, dataengineering, cloud engineering, or relatedacademic/project work.
- Foundational understanding of Al/MLconcepts, including LLMs, prompts,embeddings, tokens, vector databases,RAG, and basic agent workflows.
- Familiarity with Python and basic scriptingfor automation, testing, data processing, orAPl integration.
- Working knowledge of SQL and basic datahandling concepts, including structuredand unstructured data sources.
- Awareness of Al application risks such asunintended information exposure, dataleakage, unreliable outputs, unsafe tooluse, insecure integrations, model misuse,and over-permissive automation.
- Foundational knowledge of cybersecurityconcepts including authentication,authorization, IAM, API security, secretshandling, secure coding, logging.
- Exposure to cloud environments such asAzure, AVWS, or GCP, with basicunderstanding of secure deployment andaccess configuration.
- Familiarity with Al or applicationdevelopment frameworks such asLangChain, LangGraph, Llamalndex,AutoGen, OpenAlAPIs, or comparabletools is preferred.Ability to follow structured validationplans, implement predefined controls,document observations, and escalate risksclearly.
- Strong communication skills, attention todetail, and willingness to learn in a fast-evolving frontier Al security domain.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPOSURE
- Internship, academic, or projectexperience involving Al/ML, LLMapplications, chatbots, RAG solutions, oragent-based workflows.Exposure to Al application security orbroader application security concepts suchas LLM-specific risk patterns, APIgateways, IAM, secrets management,endpoint security, or secure SDLC.
- Basic understanding of secure datapipelines, retrieval architectures, vectordatabases, enterprise search, or API-basedintegrations.
- Familiarity with prompt design, promptevaluation, LLM output checks, applicationsafeguard configuration, or Al qualityevaluation.
- Exposure to testing tools, automationscripts, notebooks, logging platforms, orobservability dashboards used for Al orapplication behavior analysis.
